Why are we asking you for your information?

In order to give you the best possible treatment we need you to be honest with us about your health and lifestyle. We are required by law to keep records of your treatments and this information forms part of this. If you register your mobile phone number with us then we will send you a text message reminder of your upcoming appointments.

Sometimes it is necessary to share some of your information. So who will we share it with?

Primarily with you and also with our reception team so that they can help you make your appointments. If you have private health insurance and are claiming your treatment costs back from them, they require further data from us such as your details and information regarding your appointments.

Where necessary or required we also share information with other healthcare professionals such as your GP, nurse, physiotherapist, your parent/guardian or your carer if you require additional support to attend your appointments.

When we do have to share your data, we are required to comply with all aspects of the Data Protection Act (DPA) and are registered with the Information Controllers Office (ICO).

You will also be given the opportunity to receive information from us about special offers or new services that we are offering. We do not share this information with marketing companies. Your data will never be sold by us for marketing purposes.

How do we store your data?

Our practice went digital in 2003 and our records are all securely stored in line with the law. Our data is stored inside of the European Economic Area (EEA) and these servers are all compliant with the data protection laws.

Who is your data controller?

One of our Company Directors, Podiatrist Nikki Grant, is responsible for overseeing our data protection. She can be contacted at the clinic or by email at nikki@grantpodiatry.co.uk.

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with our services and as described our Privacy Policy. However, we may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. The retention of podiatry records is normally a minimum of 8 years, after the last appointment. For customers who are not patients but may have bought products from my business we will keep any data you may have provided for a minimum of 6 years in line with tax legislation.
